SUBJECT:            ELIMINATION OF MODELS FOR COSMETOLOGIST, ESTHETICIAN AND
                            MANICURIST PRACTICAL EXAMINATIONS

As you are aware, the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology (Board) began administering the NIC practical examination in October 2011.  Other States that use the NIC examination use mannequin heads and hands instead of models when taking the examination.    Therefore, effective March 1, 2012, candidates taking the cosmetologist, esthetician, or manicurist examination will be required to bring a mannequin head and/or hand with them to the testing site.  Models will no longer be permitted for the cosmetology, manicure or esthetician practical exam on or after March 1, 2012.
