The PBF is the beauty industry's national legislative organization working on industry issues to be addressed at the Federal level. They also disseminate information and strive to create awareness and activism among salon industry professionals nationwide.
The American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) is a national non-profit association open to all privately owned schools of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences. Services include: updating members with information about new teaching methods, current industry events, and Washington, DC updates, a series of seminars, conferences and conventions held throughout the year.
NACCAS is a national agency for the institutional accreditation of postsecondary schools and departments of cosmetology arts and sciences. It presently accredits approximately 1,000 educational institutions in the U.S.
The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) is a non-profit trade association that represents the interests of the professional beauty industry from manufacturers and distributors to salons and spas.
The California Bureau of Barbering & Cosmetology licenses and regulates the professions of barbering, cosmetology, electrology, esthetics, manicuring, and establishments where these services are performed. It also regulates health and safety issues in schools approved by the Board.
California Department of Consumer Affairs oversees the activities of the Board of Cosmetology & Barbering. If you have a complaint against the board, this is where to make your voice heard.
California Stylist Newspaper reports on news, products and services of interest to beauty professionals in the State of California.
The California Employment Development Department regulations greatly affect salon booth renters and salon landlords and owners.
